Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a Japanese term that translates to shi- finger and atsu – pressure – finger pressure.
Born from the wisdom of Japanese touch and Chinese thought, Shiatsu is a deeply traditional practice performed fully clothed. The practitioner applies rhythmic pressure, moving like a dance along the body's subtle energy rivers, known as qi. With each inhale and exhale, their touch releases frozen energy, melting blockages to bring deep relaxation to both muscle and mind. As the body's circulation flows freely, a vibrant, healing tide washes over you, aiding digestion, soothing the nervous system, and restoring a profound sense of well-being.
Shiatsu is traditionally performed on a futon, however we also offer Shiatsu on a massage table.
Cupping
From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, cupping is more than a physical therapy; it is a holistic technique for restoring balance to the body's interconnected systems. By applying suction to specific points and channels (meridians), cupping unblocks the flow of qi and blood. This encourages the body's natural healing processes to address the root causes of issues like sore muscles, rather than just the symptoms. The practice aims to harmonize a person's internal environment for long-term health.
Fire cupping
A flash of fire purifies the space within a glass cup. It is then quickly settled upon the skin, where the cooling air creates a gentle but firm grip. This suction lifts the skin and muscle, freeing connective tissues that have long held stories of stress and pain. The warmth infuses this deep work with a comforting energy, encouraging a profound release that extends beyond the physical, soothing the nervous system, and restoring a sense of centred balance to the entire being.
This process encourages a powerful, detoxifying flow of blood and lymph, flushing away metabolic waste and releasing energetic blockages. The heat amplifies this cleansing effect, dissolving knots of stress and tension to bring about a feeling of profound relief, renewed vitality, and graceful mobility.
Kinesiology taping
Kinesiology taping is a holistic technique that uses an elastic, skin-like tape to support the body's natural healing process. It encourages better circulation and lymphatic drainage by gently lifting the skin, which helps reduce pain and inflammation. The tape also enhances self-awareness and mind-body connection by providing sensory feedback that improves proprioception (the sense of body position). By offering dynamic, flexible support, it fosters confidence for active rehabilitation, allowing for more harmonious movement rather than immobilization.
By creating a gentle, decompressing lift on the skin, it initiates a dialogue with the underlying tissues, encouraging the body's systems to restore balance and flow.
Ultimately, it empowers the body to move and heal in a more integrated, self-aware way.
Neuromuscular Dry Needling
Neuromuscular dry needling is a holistic therapeutic technique that uses thin needles to stimulate deep tissue and promote the body's natural healing processes. By targeting painful muscle knots, or trigger points, it helps reset the nervous system's signalling and reduces muscle tension. This leads to an increase in blood flow to flush out inflammatory chemicals, and a release of the body's own natural pain-relieving neurochemicals. This approach not only provides targeted pain relief but also contributes to overall well-being by promoting nervous system and chemical balance. It acts as a catalyst for total wellness by creating a more optimal state for the mind and body, enhancing the effectiveness of other therapies.
Facial Rejuvenation Dry Needling
Facial rejuvenation dry needling, is a holistic practice that nurtures beauty from the inside out. Using ultra-fine needles, practitioners address signs of aging by stimulating collagen and elastin production locally on the face, resulting in a more radiant complexion, improved skin tone and texture, and a more lifted appearance.
10 initial sessions spaced no more than 1 week apart is highly recommended, followed by 2-3 monthly appointments.
Regularity of sessions and follow up seasonal sessions is dependant both on the goal of the patient and on the reaction of the individual’s skin.
Qigong
Qigong is the deliberate dance of breath and being. Slow, purposeful movements and deep, rhythmic breathing are used to tend to the garden of one's own energy. In this moving meditation, tension melts away, allowing the life force to flow freely and nourish the mind, body, and soul.
